“…yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.” — Colossians 1:22

Having just celebrated Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, it is good to remember that these events did not happen by chance. They unfolded according to God’s eternal purpose. We rightly rejoice that Christ saved us from God’s righteous judgment against our sin. Yet His redeeming work is far deeper and more glorious than we often realize.

In Colossians 1:22, the Apostle Paul reveals that Christ’s atoning death was always intended to accomplish this: to present us before God holy, blameless, and beyond reproach. This is not an afterthought. It lies at the very center of God’s saving purpose.

From eternity past, God determined not only to forgive us, but to make us holy. This is our destiny by His eternal decree: “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4).

This holiness is grounded in Christ’s sacrificial love for His church. As Paul writes, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:25–27).

At the heart of God’s eternal purpose is His infinite, unconditional love—beautifully displayed in Christ’s love for His bride, the church. There is no greater or more exquisite love than this: that Christ would give Himself for sinners like us, forgive us fully, and transform us into His own likeness.

And God leaves nothing to chance or to the weakness of our flesh. He has promised to finish what He began. Paul assures us: “He will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:8).

Day by day, God is doing everything necessary—by His Spirit and through His Word—to bring His saving purpose and loving kindness to perfect completion in every one of His children.

What a God we serve! What a Savior we have! From eternity to eternity, our salvation and perfect holiness are infallibly secure—rooted in God’s unchanging purpose, secured by Christ’s redeeming work, and daily sustained by the Holy Spirit’s faithful care.

To Him alone be all the glory.
