“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens soar high above the earth, so My ways tower above your ways, and My thoughts transcend your thoughts’” (Isaiah 55:8-9). God is God—majestic, infinite, and beyond our grasp—and we are His beloved creation! He is wholly other, a mystery so vast that we cannot comprehend Him, except where He graciously reveals Himself to us. His thoughts shimmer with divine wisdom, far beyond our own, and His ways unfold with a purpose we can only marvel at. The Apostle Paul proclaims that God “dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see”—a radiant glory that leaves us in awe. Yet, in His boundless love, God invites us to know Him through the masterpiece of creation. As Paul writes, “Since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, understood through the wonders He has made, leaving us without excuse” (Romans 1:20) that we might glorify Him and be thankful (vs 21). Open Psalm 104 and behold the beauty of God’s character—His care for every creature, His artistry in all the earth. David sings in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Every star, every breeze, every mountain proclaims His glory! Even more, God unveils Himself through the sacred pages of Scripture—through prophets, apostles, and above all, His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. In Jesus, we gaze upon “the glory of the only begotten Son,” who came to explain the Father (John 1:14, 18). “He is the radiance of God’s glory, the exact imprint of His nature” (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus Himself declares, “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). What a breathtaking gift—to see the glory of God in the face of Christ! (II Corinthians 4:6). So let us not limit God to our own small imaginations, for we’ll miss the fullness of His splendor every time. Instead, let’s stand in wonder and let Him teach us who He is—glorious, holy, and infinitely good. In the deepest, most challenging passages of Scripture, His majesty shines brightest. There, we see clearly: God is God, and we are not. His thoughts are a universe beyond ours, He calls us to believe Him not to try and decipher Him. To Him be all honor and eternal dominion! Amen. |
