The CBC Bible Conference is intended to help individuals, families and households better understand and practically apply a biblical Christian perspective to all areas of life for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.
From August 13th to August 15th, 2024, Community will host a conference that specifically focuses on the rise and development of Congregationalism, which significantly influenced the 1689 Baptist Confession during the 17th-century ecclesiastical debates. Gaining a proper understanding of 1689 ecclesiology necessitates gaining insight into the historical circumstances surrounding these debates.
The 17th-century ecclesiastical debates in England were part of a broader argument that spanned at least 154 years. Beginning in 1535 with Henry VIII’s departure from Catholicism and culminating in the public signing of the Second London Baptist Confession in 1689, English Christians deliberated on the nature of true worship and the authority responsible for determining it. In their pursuit of purifying the church in accordance with scripture, the conversation encompassed various topics and issues, laying the foundation for the 17th-century debates on church governance and the keys of the kingdom.
These debates came at a significant cost. Many individuals sacrificed their personal freedom, ministries, and even their lives in the fight for the glory of Christ and His church. Why were they willing to pay such a high price to establish proper ecclesiology? It was because they understood that the promise and hope of Christ’s protection, as stated in Matthew 16:18-19, rely on specific congregations faithfully following our Savior as He builds His Church.
Ultimately, these debates led to the creation of the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Savoy Declaration, and the Second London Baptist Confession. Each of these documents aimed to reform Anglican ecclesiology, as outlined in the 39 articles, in order to align more closely with the teachings of Christ, as described in Matthew 16:18-19.

How Could Everybody Be So Wrong About Biblical Prophecy?
Rapture? Pre-Trib? Post-Trib? Millennium? Confused? You should be! In today's Evangelical Christian world, eschatology -- or the study of the "Last Things" -- has been turned into a sort of pseudo-science with a plethora of authors claiming to know exactly the scenario of events that are to take place just prior to the Lord Jesus Christ's return. Piece by piece, Samuel Waldron strips away years of false teaching and faulty exegesis thrust upon the church to reveal what the Bible, in its own simple but profound way, says about what will happen at the end of this present age.
Samuel Waldron is a full-time Pastor/Teacher of Heritage Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky; jointly affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America. He also serves as Professor of Systematic Theology at the Midwest Center for Theological Studies.
