“My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26 This verse becomes more precious with each passing year. When we’re young and full of strength, life often feels manageable. The days are long, and the burdens feel light. But as the years go by, our bodies grow weaker, and so does the illusion that we can carry ourselves. We begin to see more clearly—not just our physical frailty, but the ways we’ve fallen short in loving God with all our heart, and our neighbor as ourselves. Growing older is not for the faint of heart. It humbles us. It reminds us how deeply we depend on the Lord—not just for breath in our lungs, but for grace in our souls. Yet in that humbling, there is comfort. Because it is His strength that sustains us now. And it is His gracious promise of heaven that gives us courage for today and hope for tomorrow. So take heart. Fix your gaze on Christ. He has not let go of you—and He never will. As the old hymn gently reminds us: |
